Tim O'Reilly, on defining web 2:

  • Web 2.0 is the network as platform, spanning all connected devices; Web 2.0 applications are those that make the most of the intrinsic advantages of that platform: delivering software as a continually-updated service that gets better the more people use it, consuming and remixing data from multiple sources, including individual users, while providing their own data and services in a form that allows remixing by others, creating network effects through an "architecture of participation," and going beyond the page metaphor of Web 1.0 to deliver rich user experiences.

Why Use Online Notetaking?

*The online note cards and sections, which can be dragged and dropped, can be manipulated like index cards.
*Once the sections and notes have been completed, they lend themselves easily to the creation of an online outline
*The notebook can be 'shared' with teachers so that they have all of their students' notebooks in their own Google Notebook account. This makes
grading and giving feedback simple as the teacher can write in the comments section of the note cards since the 'share' feature is collaborative.
*The 'enable note' feature, which can be turned on by right clicking on the mini notebook browser extension, enables students to quickly transfer
any information in to their Google Notebook. (Google Notebook automatically puts the web or database page tile, URL, and highlighted information in to
the Notebook.)
*This tool is more engaging for students since it involves the computer.
*It's environmentally friendly!
